Who wakes up every morning, presses the snooze button, goes back to sleep until the very last minute then has to rush around to get ready? This used to be me, I’d leave it as late as I could then rush, and as a result, it had a huge impact on my day. I’d feel stressed, unorganised, unhappy and not have a very good day.
Until I heard read a book about the impact a productive morning can have on your mindset and the outcome of your whole day. So imagine that your alarm goes off, you wake up to start off your day in a more positive mindset instead of snoozing and rushing – which do you think will give you a better day? I’m going to talk you through what I do every morning and the impact it’s had on my mindset and my life.

I sleep with my phone the other side of my room. Not only does this help with going to sleep as you’re not distracted, but when the alarm goes off I have to get out of bed to turn it off. Studies have shown that moving within 5 seconds of waking up stops the brain from even thinking thoughts like ‘I don’t want to get up’ ‘I’m too tired’ ‘it’s cold out there’. So by getting up, I’m already awake, active and ready for the day.
I read for 10 minutes, something positive and uplifting that will put me in a good mood and ready for the day ahead. You could instead listen to an audiobook, podcast or some motivational videos on YouTube if that’s what you prefer. Click below to get a 30 Day free trial with Audible.

I then do 10 minutes of exercise, this helps to wake us up and be active. It also releases positive hormones into the brain to improve your mood and get you ready for the day. You don’t have to join a gym or buy any equipment to exercise daily. Even stretching or simple exercises that you know will benefit you. Alternatively, there are some very useful apps with workout routines on. I personally like to use ‘sworkit’ for a small cost of £3.99 a month for unlimited use of all exercises. This app includes stretching, yoga, cardio and personalised workout plans. I also like my pedal bike to strengthen my legs.
I take a few minutes to write down my thoughts, even if these are negative or not helpful thoughts I find that by writing them down I get them out of my head and can face them and overcome them easier. My thoughts do tend to usually be excitement and happiness due to the amount of personal development I do daily. Occasionally I just do a brain dump or a to-do list if I have a lot of ideas or tasks in my mind.
I have a list of 10 goals and statements of my future life that I am working towards. I write all 10 down every single morning in a small notebook. Taking the time to visualise having already achieved these and how my life will look. I find this is really powerful for keeping me motivated, positive and on track to taking action every day towards my long term goals.
I take a few minutes to think about everything I’m grateful for and to be thankful for everything in my life. This can be anything from my family, house, car, friends to an act of kindness. Being grateful daily has a huge impact on how you feel – it makes you feel so much more positive to be grateful for what you do have and takes away the thoughts from everything you don’t have. It’s so important to appreciate everything we do have in life as focusing on this will attract more into your life, instead of focusing on the negative and attracting more. I then journal about my thoughts and anything on my mind.

I then listen to my affirmations, these have a huge impact on your self-belief and when trying to build your confidence. My affirmations change monthly to relate to my personal and business goals so they are relevant. I pick a main topic and create 6 affirmations for this. I then pick 2 other topics from health, love, personal, spiritual, finance etc and create 2 affirmations for each topic.
Then I record a voice note repeating each affirmation for 1 minute. So I have 10 minutes of affirmations to listen to. It is so beneficial to say a statement that you want to be true and the more you say it the more you will believe it, it will also keep you motivated to take action to achieve these and make you feel good when reading them out.
I then take some time to visualise, this could be goals that I have, visualising my dream lifestyle or anything else positive to improve my mood. Currently I have a visualisation based on my main goal which is updated monthly to relate to my main goal. I also do an abundance visualisation to work on my money mindset and attract more abundance into my life. You could also visualise a past experience or situation where you were proud or happy and how to create that feeling more regularly.
I meditate for 10 minutes. This is a great way to relieve stress and calm the mind. It allows me to feel relaxed and not worry about anything that may be coming up that day. I currently love the app Insight Timer for guided meditation, you can pick any topic and length that suits you. I have just completed a 7 day beginners challenge and loved it.
