I love looking at quotes daily for motivation and inspiration, I share them regularly on my social media feed and many of my followers love seeing them and find them very inspiring and motivational. Here are my 6 favourite quotes.
“It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you. If you allow it”
I believe that the power of the mind is massively underestimated. Up until recently I didn’t believe that I had control over my thoughts and my mind, but I can tell you, it turns out I have complete control over what my thoughts turn into.
You have to remember that a thought is just that, a thought. It doesn’t have to become anything else, it doesn’t need to make you worry or stress or feel any other emotion. You can just acknowledge the thought and move on. I have found mindfulness a really useful tool to help me with this.
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there” – T Roosevelt
Believing in yourself is the most important thing you can do, in any area of your life – your work, sport, social situations or anything else. Just believing in yourself will make a huge difference on the outcome of these situations. There are so many things you can do to increase your belief in yourself. I use affirmations and journaling as part of my morning routine and use this time to boost my belief in myself
“Worrying does not takeaway tomorrow’s trouble. It takes away today’s peace”
This quote is a huge one for me, I used to suffer badly with anxiety so worrying was something that I had formed as a daily habit, most of the time without even realising. When you discover that worrying doesn’t help the situation at all it’s a huge relief. Again mindfulness is a great tool to help with this (what isn’t mindfulness great for? It’s just amazing). You can use meditation to focus on the present moment rather than worry about something that has happened that you have no control over or something you believe may happen in the future.
“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher” – Oprah
I came across this quote over a year ago and began to look at the people I spent the most time with. Also thinking of the past – who I spent the most time with and how I was feeling. I was amazed by the links. When spending time around negative people it has a negative effect on your mindset, for example, if you’re around people who are always moaning, you’ll probably start to find yourself moaning more. So make sure that you surround yourself with positive people that uplift and inspire you as well as supporting you in your journey, you’ll be amazed by the results.
“You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind”
This is a great quote, and it makes total sense. How can you expect to have a positive life if your mind is full of negativity? This is why I spend 30 minutes in the morning working on my mindset and getting into a positive mood so that I can have a positive day and life.
Imagine if I woke up, worrying about something that had happened the day before, feeling miserable about a recent experience and just got out of bed and carried on with my day still thinking about it.
Now imagine that I wake up with the same worries and past experiences but start the day reading a personal development book, meditating, exercising, listening to a positive podcast, journaling, practising gratitude and reading my affirmations. Which do you think will have the best impact on my mindset?
“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it” – Dennis P. Kimbro
This one just sums up the whole idea of the mind to me. We are completely in control of how we react to our thoughts and experiences. If you react in a negative way you’ll feel miserable. If you react in a positive way you can get on and enjoy your life. Which would you rather have?
I hope you’ve enjoyed these quotes as much as I do. Please feel free to share your favourite quotes in the comments and in the Facebook community.
