Morning Routine Habits
How do you start your morning?
I know mine used to start with the snooze button and social media. Looking back now I realise why I was so negative. Why I lacked confidence, always compared myself to others and generally felt unhappy. I never realised how important the morning is to your mindset and the rest of your day. I guess I just thought everyone uses their phone first thing in the morning it’s just the norm and has no negative consequences.
It wasn’t until I started my personal development journey and came across the book “The Miracle Morning” that I realised my morning was what was causing my negative mindset. I began to add every personal development habit I had into my morning routine and was amazed by the results.
New morning routine habits
Fast forward to now and I easily go an hour without replying to a text or checking social media. I have my phone as it has my affirmations, visualisation and meditation on but that’s all I use it for. Top tip to avoid snoozing Put your phone the other side of the room (or out of the room) from your bed. Having to physically get out of bed to turn off your alarm will help you to wake up easier and feel refreshed. It also stops the desire to turn over and go back to sleep as you are already out of bed.

Imagine instead of social media you start your day reading something positive. Maybe a personal development book, a book you enjoy, listening to an audio book or even a podcast. Just spending some time taking in positivity. Surrounded by positivity. How do you think that will impact your day? Instead of waking up and seeing the next door neighbours holiday pictures you wake up to tips on improving your mindset or feeling confident and happy. Not only is reading great for putting you in a good mood you can also learn a lot from personal development books and implement the habits into your life to become even more positive. I have learnt so much from books since I started reading Personal Development books.
Nothing gets you active and ready for the day like exercise. There are so many benefits for both your mind and body. It doesn’t have to be a long or intense workout, a pedal bike, walk or something you enjoy. Any exercise is good. Just get your body moving and mind refreshed and ready for the day. Make a list of all the exercise you enjoy, if you’d like some inspiration there’s plenty on Pinterest. Save some pictures of 30-day challenges that you’d like to do and commit to achieving them. I like to set a challenge for each month so I have the motivation to complete it. You can save the graphic to your phone and tick off each day as you complete it.
Journaling is a great way to clear your mind. If there is a lot on your mind it’s really useful to write it all down so it’s out of your head and on paper. You can then start taking the action that’s needed by creating a to-do list or whatever is needed. This will stop it from becoming a worry and causing you stress. You can also journal positively to improve your mood. It is proven that reflecting on what you are grateful for can have a huge positive impact on your mood about yourself and your life. Take the time to reflect on everything you have in your life to be grateful for. Make the commitment to list at least 3 a day to get your mind to open up to everything you have in your life.

You can use guided meditation to be more present in the moment, to concentrate and get focused on the day or to improve your mood and mindset.
