How To Maintain A Positive Mindset
Over the last few years I’ve been learning all I can about improving my mindset and how to maintain a positive mindset. I have learned a lot along the way, some habits I enjoyed and have continued to use. Some I didn’t enjoy as much and have left behind. That’s okay, it’s a journey and it’s about finding the habits that you enjoy and find beneficial for you.
Today I’m going to share with you some tips on how to maintain a positive mindset. These can be added into your day straight away. Try them for a few weeks and see which ones you enjoy.
How to maintain a positive mindset: start your morning in the right way
How you spend your first 30 minutes can impact the rest of the day, either positively or negatively. Reflect on how you currently spend your morning. Do you hit the snooze button? Do you feel rushed? Or do you watch TV? Scroll social media? How does your morning start?
Think about what habits you can take out of your morning to free up some time for new positive habits that will start your day well.
Be mindful during your morning, have loving, quality time as a family. These habits will support you in creating a positive atmosphere as a family so you can all start your day feeling as good as possible.
Here are some ideas of positive habits:
Read a personal development book
This is a great way to start your day in a positive mindset as it helps you to learn new tools and techniques for maintaining a positive mindset.
Taking the time to be present, even for as little as 5 minutes is a great way to connect with yourself. Being present in the moment can help us to stay away from the worries and stresses in our mind and focus on stillness. If you’re new to meditation check out the blog post below to get you started.
If you’re not into exercise you may be wanting to skip this one. I get it, I was never very interested in exercise. However I was open minded enough to try it and I’m so glad I did because I haven’t looked back. Even something as simple as stretches or a walk will have a huge impact on your physical and mental health and boost your mood.
This is a great way to start the day if you find you have a lot on your mind when you wake up. It can be very freeing to write all your thoughts down on paper to get them off your chest. You can also journal about gratitude to make it a positive experience.
Feel like you don’t have time to sit and do any of these habits? Try these alongside your morning – while getting ready, having breakfast or any other time you have available.
Listen to a podcast
Podcasts are a great way to learn new habits and ideas for a positive mindset. There are also some very funny ones. Pick one that you enjoy listening to, whether personal development or one that you enjoy and put it on in the background.
Watch a motivational video on YouTube
Find a YouTube channel that you love and put a video on when you are getting ready. You don’t even need to watch it, simply listening will create a more positive mindset to start your day well.
Search positive quotes
This one can be done very easily and quickly and will give you an instant boost. Looking through positive quotes is a great habit to have first thing in the morning.
Listen to calming and relaxing music
This is a great one if you find yourself feeling rushed and stressed during your mornings. It can help you to slow down and relax when needed.
Create a positive music playlist
Music can completely change the way we are feeling. Put together a playlist of music that instantly boosts you mood and makes you feel amazing.
How to maintain a positive mindset: positivity boosts during the day
Where possible throughout the day continue to listen to podcasts, YouTube videos and audiobooks. If you are listening to personal development make sure you are taking action on what you learn and doing the habits to really see the benefit in your mindset and life.
Try going for a walk outside during your day. Be present in the moment, taking in the surroundings and focusing on all the senses. If you work all day, make the time in your lunch break for this and you will see the positive benefit on your mood.
How to maintain a positive mindset: winding down and finishing the day in a positive mindset
Spend time reflecting on all that you have to be grateful for that day, making it as specific as possible. Really feel the gratitude and be thankful for every one.
Reflect on all that you have achieved that day and celebrate your achievements. Congratulate and praise yourself for having achieved it.
When drifting off to sleep spend some time visualising. This can be a goal you are working towards, the lifestyle you want or anything you like to visualise that makes you feel positive. This is a great way to end the day feeling positive and sets you up for a good night sleep and waking up feeling as positive as you were when you fell asleep.
