I turned 28 recently and as I took that next step towards the big 3-0 I wondered… How can I achieve more in my normal daily life? What will push me to take steps to be more productive? What will challenge me yet also be a little bit of fun?
So I compiled my list of 30 Challenges to achieve before I turn 30. These items were by no means a real bucket list, but achievable, 2 year goals that would broaden my mind, challenge me and help me strive towards wellness and a greater sense of self.
I am currently in the first few months of working through them and I am finding it is making my life so much more active! I would recommend anyone to do this at any stage of your life, just pick an age and go for it!
★ Don’t be afraid. Pick up a pen and start to write. Scribbles, mind-maps… it doesn’t have to be a definitive list. Just anything and everything you can think of that you have thought about doing.
★ Split them up into sections. Colour code (or rewrite) into sections, grouping similar items. For me, I split my 30 goals into 5 sections; Travelling, Personal development, Capturing the Creative spark, Challenging myself and Just for fun! You could pick any that are relevant to you!
★ Weed out all the long-term goals. If one of your goals is to get married for example and you’re not engaged yet… maybe consider removing this from your list! Make sure all the things you can completely take ownership for and are do-able in the time frame you’ve given yourself.
★ Write them down in a finalised list. The way I did this was to publish my list on my blog, making the goals seem more final. If you don’t blog, consider keeping the list on the fridge so you can remind yourself of all the great things you want to do.
★ Really do challenge yourself! Think about the time frame and make sure these things are real challenges for you – things you would love to do but may not have managed to achieve. But one big DON’T – Don’t worry if you don’t manage them all! Just think of all the things you did manage to do and carry on!
