I know that I didn’t spend 5 years getting my bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering from a top-notch university so that I could be unemployed and hate my life after I got out of school, but that’s exactly what happened to me.
I was lost, frustrated, and unhappy with where I was in life. I’m sure some of you can relate to this situation because you may be feeling the same way I felt back then.
I was 22 years old and felt like I had no sense of direction. I didn’t know what I wanted to do in life. At this age, we should all have our lives figured out, right?
Our 20s are supposed to be the years where we screw up, continue to explore who we truly are, and begin to find what our purpose in life is.
When you don’t know what you’re passionate about and what your purpose in life is, your life lacks a deeper meaning. For this reason, it is important to find what you’re passionate about and what your purpose in life is.
Today, I’m going to give you 3 tips that can help you find your life’s purpose.
Trying to find that one thing that you were meant to do limits you to what you can truly accomplish. Take me for example. I have multiple job titles. I’m a freelancer, writer, blogger, author, and web designer. I’m passionate about these jobs and leading a passionate life is what gives my life purpose.
I didn’t place any limitations on myself. I wasn’t trying to find that “one” purpose. Instead, I was trying to find the things I was truly passionate about because I knew that was the key to living a purposeful life.
The sky really is the limit and even today, I’m not afraid to try new things. There’s nothing wrong with adding just one more job title to my ever-growing list. I still have plans of becoming a graphic designer and selling my virtual assistant services one day.
A passion-filled life is a life well lived, so jump in and start discovering your passions. Stop resisting the unknown and start exploring new things. Start living in the moment and stop worrying about what the future holds.
You’ll never really know what you are capable of until you try. If you try something and you don’t like it, that’s totally fine. You can easily quit and move on to exploring something different. There’s an endless number of opportunities available today. You just have to be willing to think beyond your limitations.
If you want to succeed in life, you have to believe that you can accomplish anything. There’s always going to be that chance of failure, but it’s going to be impossible to succeed if you don’t believe in your abilities.
If you want to acquire confidence, you need to think positively and kill any negative thoughts you have. Every time you notice a negative thought creeping up inside your head, I want you to replace it with a positive thought.
Thinking positive is one thing, but acting positively is a completely different thing. If you truly want to acquire confidence, you need to put all your energy into the actions you take on a daily basis.
Another way to acquire confidence is to set a small goal and work on achieving that before setting a larger goal. Don’t make the mistake of shooting for the stars because those goals will only be much harder to achieve. Start small and soon enough, you’ll be able to achieve larger goals.
Learning is another great way to become confident in your abilities. The internet is a great resource to learn new things and so is your network of like-minded people. Empower yourself with knowledge because the more knowledgeable you are, the more confident you will become.
You won’t be able to find your life’s purpose if you don’t push past your fears and act to fulfil your dreams. Many of us who refuse to act on our heart’s greatest desires often follow the ‘Ready, Aim, Fire’ approach. People who follow this approach spend their time questioning too many things.
These people spend all their time trying to find the right target to aim for and never actually get to the ‘Fire’ phase because they’re afraid to act.
If you truly want to find your purpose in life, you need to explore different things and start acting on them. You want to follow the ‘Ready, Fire, Aim’ approach. You should act (or fire) immediately and you can always make adjustments or modifications (or re-aim) later if you decide that your current path isn’t working out for you. There is always space for improvement once everything is in place and running.
You’ll never know everything there is to know unless you act now. Taking this leap of faith may seem like a scary thing to do, but the experience will be rewarding as you continue to explore what you’re truly passionate about.
I’ve found my purpose in life and I’m forever grateful for that. These 3 tips have served me well in living a purposeful life and doing what I love. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. I placed limitations on myself and told myself that I couldn’t do it. I wasn’t confident in my abilities to start my own online business. I was afraid to push past my fears and act sooner.
Then, life happened. After being unemployed for 6 months, I felt like I had no choice but to pursue my passion. I took that leap of faith and started an online business because it was the right thing to do for me. You never know until you try. That leap of faith can be a total life changer for you.
