How To Believe In Yourself
I know you hear it all the time, “believe in yourself,” but this really is key. The biggest challenge is knowing how to believe in yourself. One of the things that separates successful and unsuccessful people is their ability to believe in themselves and what seems impossible. Sometimes, we can be our own worst enemy and limit ourselves from doing extraordinary things because we don’t believe that we are capable.
You must believe in yourself and learn to be your biggest cheerleader because at the end of the day, the only person you can really count on is you. No one will fight for your dreams like you will. Here are a few tips for how to believe in yourself:
Every morning when you wake and every night before you go to sleep, recite positive affirmations about yourself. You can start off with affirmations such as, “I can do anything I set my mind to,” “I am smart, talented and capable of extraordinary things,” “I will be successful.” The mind is a powerful tool and it is important to feed it positive things. They say, “the mind is everything, what you think you become” and I believe there is some truth to this.
Even if you don’t believe it in the beginning, after reciting these affirmations every day, it will become a routine and eventually, you’ll start to believe.
Write down your accomplishments
We all have at least one thing that we have accomplished in life. When you write down your accomplishments and review them, it reinforces the belief that you can accomplish your goals. It could be as simple as getting to work early every morning, it’s still a goal that you accomplished and it would prove that you’re disciplined.
When you list your accomplishments, try to discover any similarities. This will help in determining your skills and strengths.
Surround yourself with positive people
Your associations help determine the quality of life you will have. Being your biggest cheerleader is great but it’s still good to surround yourself with genuine people who want to see you do well and motivate you to be and do better.
Whenever you’re feeling down, these people can help you get back on track. These people may be able to point out qualities that you didn’t recognize in yourself and this will tremendously assist in boosting your confidence. Surround yourself with people who you admire, people who are good for your mind, body and soul. You want to be associated with those who will lift you up and not tear you down.
Fear stops us from doing a lot of things, especially fear of failure. No one wants to wake up in their 70’s and start to think about all of the “what ifs.” There is no risk going after a dream but there is a lot of risk to just playing it safe. It’s important to bet on yourself and when you take risks, you give yourself the chance to really achieve what you have your heart set on. You also prove to yourself how strong and determined you are, this kind of guts will take you places.
