The Best Personal Development Habits
Since there’s now over 80 blogs on this website I thought it would be good to do a roundup post of all the best personal development habits that I use and have had positive benefits from. These are the habits that I use daily and the benefits include:

My morning routine habits
My visualisation technique has changed recently since reading The Mindstore by Jack Black. I have a vision board with over 200 images saved to a secret board on Pinterest. I used to look through these and visualise my life with those images as my reality.
Since reading The Mindstore I have adapted my visualisation to The House On The Right Bank. There are so many elements to this visualisation and I really enjoy it. It includes a shower that releases negativity and an editing suite to program your day and remove old negative beliefs and memories. I highly recommend the book if you want to achieve success and fulfilment in your life in every way.
I then spend about 10 minutes reading a personal development book of some kind. I aim to read at least one book a month to continue expanding my knowledge of personal development and start each day positively. Find a way to read that is enjoyable to you, here are some ideas:
- Buy paperback books

- Read blog posts
- Visit your local library
- Read magazines or online magazines
I like to always have some form of movement every morning. Even if it is using my pedal bike while I read. I usually do 3 full workouts a week as well as a dance class and when I play bowls I get a lot of walking exercise. It’s all about finding what works for you and what you enjoy. Search for some ideas on YouTube and Pinterest and find a challenge that you want to try.
I love journaling because you can write about whatever feels write. There is no structure or formality to it. I like to journal about my thoughts, if any of these are negative I then write a positive lesson learned from it and evidence against the negative thought.
I also journal about things I am grateful for. Starting the day reflecting on everything I have already in my life to be grateful for makes me feel happy. I write down any affirmations that I am thinking about that day or affirmations of how I want to feel.
If you’ve not yet tried meditation I really recommend getting started with guided meditation. You can find them everywhere. Some of of my favourite places are:

Find a meditation that you enjoy and that makes you feel amazing, my current favourite is “Self Confidence: 3 Declarations For Self-Assurance” on the Insight Timer app. It makes me feel confident and ready to face anything that day.
This is usually a habit that gets overlooked. We think we are too busy doing everything else like work, family, cooking, cleaning, washing etc. Then when we finally sit down to rest we choose to sit in front of the TV or scroll social media. I made the decision to schedule self-care into my week. Starting to schedule time for genuine self-care like pampering, reading, playing the keyboard, reading and everything else I enjoy.
I then made the decision that one or two evenings a week I would watch TV. Now, I hardly watch any programs and when I do they are only positive ones like talent shows, travel shows and uplifting films. I record these and watch them on my scheduled evening with is usually and Friday and Sunday evening.
Make a schedule of self-care including all the activities that you enjoy and start making yourself a priority. You will see benefits in all areas of your life including your home and work life.
I am constantly listening to music throughout my day. I have a motivational music playlist that makes me feel unstoppable and I listen to this whenever I need a boost. It’s good to create a playlist of music that makes you feel amazing. If it gets you dancing it’s even better as you’ll feel even more health benefits from the movement.
Like reading, this is a great way to learn new personal development habits that you can implement into your life. It’s also a great source of motivation and inspiration. As I said earlier I don’t watch TV often so I usually have a podcast on regularly throughout the day.
My evening routine
Gratitude is one of the best personal development habits and is seen as a priority for a lot of people as part of their personal growth. As part of my “night book” a technique from The Mindstore book I reflect on what I am grateful for that day. I make this as specific as possible and really connect to the feelings that come with it. I also make the effort to thank people at every opportunity throughout my day and really show appreciation for them.
I then take the time to reflect on everything I did well that day and that I can be proud of. This helps me to realise that I have had a productive and successful day as there is always something to write down. This is great to look back at when you need a confidence boost and you can see everything that you have achieved.
Again I use the Mindstore techniques before bed and the sleep technique provided in the book for a good night sleep. I listen to meditation music in the background from the Deep Energy Podcast.
These are the best personal development habits that I have found so beneficial on my personal growth journey. What habits do you want to try?
