7 Positivity Habits
A question I get asked a lot is “how do I get a more positive mindset?” I believe the answer to this is consistency with personal development and positive habits that improve the way you think, react and behave. Here are 7 positivity habits to help you get started.
I have a set morning and evening routine that includes my positivity habits and this keeps my mindset positive. Even in times of negativity I have the tools I need to get back into a positive frame of mind. This isn’t a quick fix and won’t work over night, it takes commitment, consistency and perseverance to see the results and maintain a positive mindset.
Create a positivity bubble
This is something that I’ve started doing recently. After seeing a diagram explaining it I decided to start doing it myself. In times when people around you are being negative, whether this is about you or in general, you can imagine yourself in a positivity bubble. This means only positivity is allowed in and all negativity bounces off the bubble and stays out of you. If you can visualise this happening it is a really useful way to not allow negativity in.
Books and blogs are a great positivity habit to improve your mindset. If you surround yourself by positivity every day it will have a positive impact on your mindset. Starting your day by reading something positive is so much better than starting your day on social media or watching the news for example. Reading is also a great way to learn new things as you can learn many new positivity habits from books and blogs that you can add into your life to maintain your positive mindset.
Podcasts are one of the simplest positivity habits there are as you can listen to them on the go and throughout your day. You don’t need to commit time to sitting and listening to a podcast like you would sitting to meditate or read. You can make the time for podcasts throughout your day while driving, getting ready, doing housework or working.
They are a great way to learn new habits and expand your knowledge while keeping you motivated and inspired. Go onto the Apple Podcast app, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts and search for key words that you are interested in. Subscribe to the ones you enjoy and make the time to listen to them daily.
Start your day with an attitude of gratitude, before you even get out of bed make your first thought one of being grateful. This can make a huge difference to your positivity and outlook on life. If you are facing challenging situations in life and feeling down you can get out of this state of mind by reflecting on all that you have to be grateful for.
This is a great way to change the way you are feeling because music can make you feel emotion in many ways. When you feel you need a positivity boost listen to music that makes you feel uplifted and inspired. Create a playlist of this music so that you have it to play when you need it. Add to it with only music that makes you feel positive and uplifts your mood and the way you are feeling.
It is proven that exercise releases endorphins (happy hormones) into the brain. So when you are moving this is happening and as a result you will begin to feel happier. Choose movement that you enjoy and that makes you feel good. This can be anything from dancing to loud, happy music or doing a workout that you love. Make the decision to move daily in a way that makes you feel good.
Surround yourself by positive people that support, inspire and uplift you. Join communities and groups online and in person to get this supportive community around you. Sometimes friends and family aren’t the positive support that we need. While we can’t change the way they are or act and don’t want to remove them from our life we can still seek positive support from others outside the main circle and make new friends.
Be mindful of how you spend the first 30 minutes of your day. Choose to start it with some positivity habits. End your day winding down and getting ready for sleep with positivity to encourage a good nights sleep and relaxation.
